Hey what's up guys, I'm a college student doing a project on Jim Carrey. I was wondering if any of you fans out there could help me by answering some questions about yourselves and about being a Jim Carrey fan. I'm trying to see what kinds of fans follow Jim. If you don't work, how would you rate your family as being: well-to-do, normal, or not so well-off? normal 1.) What got you into being a fan of Jim Carrey in the first place? his brilliant acting 2.) What comedian would you have liked in the 70's? 3.) What comedian do you hate? may sound weird for a Jim Carrey fan, but I don't like such silly nonsense like Adam Sandler movies. Or worse: Chris Farley! 4.) Why are you into Jim Carrey and not someone else? he's just special! oh, there's more... lol In other words, what makes him so special? Look at the topic "what does JC have that you love about him"! lol 5.) Who is your second favorite comedian? I like some other actors, but there's no second "comedian". 6.) Would you say you are a hardcore or fringe member of his (fringe being less than hardcore)? Why? fringe, yes, well okay... hardcore. Because I collect everything I can get! And because he's got a special place in my world. 7.) What do you think separates a fringe member from a hardcore member? A fringe member just likes his movies and thinks he's funny, a hardcore member collects everything, turns into a hunter! A hardcore member is also interested in and impressed by the entire work and person, and tries to look behind the veil. 8.) Are there Jim Carrey fans you admire? Why? I admire them who try to follow in his footsteps and draw inspiration from him. 9.) What is the definition of a fan who has gone too far? Someone who can't lead a normal life anymore because of his obsession. Someone who lives in a fantasy world, who gives up himself, who isn't worth enough for himself. What got you into being a fan of Jim Carrey in the first place? His performance in The Mask... and the fact he was so beautiful in it. 2.) What comedian would you have liked in the 70's? Ooh god... Dave Alan was rather hilarious! 3.) What comedian do you hate? Roy Chubby Brown. That guy needs to be shot several times! 4.) Why are you into Jim Carrey and not someone else? In other words, what makes him so special? He's just a damn good actor, he's an attractive bloke. I just like his humour and the way he can pull off different characters with what seems like such ease. 5.) Who is your second favorite comedian? Eddie Izzard 6.) Would you say you are a hardcore or fringe member of his (fringe being less than hardcore)? Why? Hardcore - I have everything baby! 7.) What do you think separates a fringe member from a hardcore member?  A fringe member just thinks he's funny and has a few of his films in their film collection. A hardcore member, knows loads about him, has ALL his films, has pictures everywhere, talks non stop about him, and is just generally besotted with him! 8.) Are there Jim Carrey fans you admire? Why? I don't really know any, and the ones I do know personally (personally as in I hang with them and stuff) I don't really really ADMIRE them. 9.) What is the definition of a fan who has gone too far? A fan who's gone to far??? Someone who's constantly following who they're a fan of. They sit outside their house, they send him messed up things, like a picture of them humping a table leg or something... that's just going way to far and is way to wrong!

If you work, how much do you make a year? minimum wage, but I'm an actress and comedian myself 4.) If you don't work, how would you rate your family as being: well-to-do, normal, or not so well-off? slightly normal, been kinda hard lately Questions About Being a Fan 1.) What got you into being a fan of Jim Carrey in the first place? I had a friend who's mother worked on In Living Color and he told me about Jim but I wasn't allowed to watch the show so I didn't watch much of it, so I could only see snippets of Jim here and there until The Mask came out, then my mom thought it was ok to watch his movies, but I've been a fan of his since In Living Color 2.) What comedian would you have liked in the 70's? maybe Jerry Lewis.. Andy Kaufman if he started in the 70's, I know more about the older comedians like from the 40's then from the 70's 3.) What comedian do you hate? I don't generally hate any comedians but I don't favor Adam Sandler, he just doesn't spark me as funny, anyone can do what he's doing! 4.) Why are you into Jim Carrey and not someone else? In other words, what makes him so special? I just look up to Jim as a person, he seems to be the only actor (that I know of) who is humble and still has a human heart, he's EXTREMELY kind to his fans and he doesnt seem to have a big ego, he's down to earth and he's real, and since my parents are divorced I always looked up to him as a father and he's a very good father for his daughter, I admire him for being who he really is and not what Hollywood wants him to be, also he's adorable and very talented, and he has that drive to do what he wants and I want to be like that. um...he's just very special to me and I think I have a special connection with him but I wont talk about that here. 5.) I am intense, I am hardcore, I collect anything I can, I watch him movies 500 times in a row, I have tons of tapes of his interviews and lots of memorobilia, I have almost killed myself getting some stuff (wont talk about that hhehehe but Claar knows), he's just my kind of guy and I admire him deeply, but I'm not a "fan" I'm more than that 7.) What do you think separates a fringe member from a hardcore member? fringe members like many other actors and aren't as crazy about one person, they just like some of an actors work, a hardcore member loves everything about the person (or almost for those who aren't crazy) and has a deep admiration for the person and more. 8.) Are there Jim Carrey fans you admire? Why? I admire Claartje because I think we share alot of the same feelings for Jim and she's pretty easy to talk to about him without feeling stupid. I also admire my mom cuz she thinks Jim is talented too and always tells me if she hears about him on tv or whatever. LOL 9.) What got you into being a fan of Jim Carrey in the first place? When my best friend let me borrow her "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" tape. His over-the-top antics and comedic style intrigued me. I was 11 back then so he made quite an impression on me. 2.) What comedian would you have liked in the 70's? I have to say Steve Martin and Robin Williams. 3.) What comedian do you hate? OOH! Jim Carrey Fan Interview Questionnaire Questions About Background 1.) Are you male or female? Female 2.) What is your ethnicity? 100% Dutch (as in from the Netherlands, Europe). 3.) If you work, how much do you make a year? Little below minimum wage, I’m busy working on my acting/ stand up comedy career, meanwhile putting strings together being waitress. 4.) If you don't work, how would you rate your family as being: well-to-do, normal, or not so well-off? Kind of Well-to-do. But does that matter in regards to weither I work or not? Questions About Being a Fan 1.) What got you into being a fan of Jim Carrey in the first place? Ohhh a little romantic story settles in here. There was this guy at my highschool I was silently absolutely obsessed about. Tall, handsome, funny, Talked with Me, the works. All I could do was gaze in drool when He Was Around. Actually, ironic note, I’d been desperitly avoiding Jim Carrey for YEARS because I mixed him up with James Varney. (never been too well in remembering names). So whenever his name was on a video-tape it was like a no-go zone for me. Then, at some dress-up day at school, My Then-dreamguy went as Ace Ventura. So, I decided to give Jimmy a second chance. Watched Ace Ventura 2. WHOA!!!! WHO IS THAT!! THAT’S NOT THE ERNEST DUDE!!!!!!! He totally zoomed me in, there was something underneath that character that I was destined to find out.For the very first time in my life, I didn’t only think: what a great character that actor is playing, or he is pretty damn good looking. Great way of acting. There was a huge factor of difference that dropped like a bomb: WHO IS THAT SOUL? I never to this day have had this with anyone else on this entire planet. So there ya go. So I don’t even know if I can describe it as fan. It’s different. The end of the romantic story? He had already turned me down already before when I found out about Jim, and since I found out about Jim it has been a lot easier to get that other dude out of my head somehow :-D. 2.) What comedian would you have liked in the 70's? Hmmm. If I had been around back then I would probably not have been able to find out about Jim. Since he wasn’t doing movies yet back then and Comedy shows don’t travel the world that fast, especially during that time zone. No internet. But if I could have, I defenitly would have. Also Andy Kaufman. 3.) What comedian do you hate? Hate is a big word. But comedians that I don’t connect to are generally people that I don’t connect to on a deeper level. You have to BE funny, not ACT funny. Move me in a way. If you don't pull that off then it's just not gonna work for me.. What really didn’t connect to me for example is James Varney. Can’t watch that guy without my toes in an uncomfortable curl. Dammit the guy made me avoid Jim way too long for my liking!! 4.) Why are you into Jim Carrey and not someone else? There are a whole lot comedians I think are really funny (though they miss the one thing that distracts Jim from that bunch, you can’t even compare) Want more names? Vincent Geers, Jimmy Speelmans, etc etc etc! I’m into stand-up comedy myself so I see a lot of good stuff around J. 6.) Would you say you are a hardcore or fringe member of his (fringe being less than hardcore)? Why? Intense Hardcore. Fan isn’t the right way to describe it, because it’s different than that.I admire him deeply. I collect what I can, I watch every interview I can lay my hands on a kazillion times. Same goes for movies. I’m becoming quite physic when it comes to blindly opening magazines at the right page hahahahah 7.) What do you think separates a fringe member from a hardcore member? fringe members think hardcore members have lost quite a bit of their sanity hahahah.I think hardcore member like the guy for the inside. Fringe like the shell.  8.) Are there Jim Carrey fans you admire? Why? Juliette. Her mom too. I got to finally meet them last summer.Can’t wait to move to L.A. Angelika. Why? Ever had True Friends? All for different reasons that are private to me, because 99% of my friendships have been seriously messed up and a big disappointment in the end and I know these are like they should be, we know how it feels, we know what we mean to each other, there are no words needed, we don’t need to speak it out loud, when it feels right, it’s right. Jerry Lewis 3.) I don't think I hate one 4.) His talent and most of all his personality are very special. 5.) HP Kerkeling 6.) I'd rate me as in the middle of both because I do have a big JC collection but am not spending most of my time with it, and should I meet him I'd probably leave him alone. 7.) A hardcore member is simply spending much more time with and invests more money into his (object of) admiration. 8.) Surely not because of their JC admiration. If I admire someone it's because of his/her personality. 9.) Stalkers, deranged people who spam JC's offices with messages and presents, people who threaten his safety or follow him around.

I used to work but I stopped because it was spoiling my studies, I have NO idea how much money it representes a year... 4.) If you don't work, how would you rate your family as being: well-to-do, normal, or not so well-off? My parents were driving crazy until I moved out, now I realize how great folks they really are... Guess I'm maturing! Oh and they're pretty normal and I really get along with my 'lil bro! Questions About Being a Fan 1.) What got you into being a fan of Jim Carrey in the first place? It happened around June 1995 when I went to see "Batman Forever". There were some movie previews before and one of them was a movie that seemed to take place in Africa. There was this guy wearing a mask dancing around a fire. Since back then I didn't know much about cinema, I didn't know who he was. But then, he took off his mask and dove on the ground to reveal himself as Ace Ventura in "Ace Ventura : When Nature Calls". I got shocked, that shot surprised me like a punch in the face and I just knew that I was going to really love this guy for times to come. 2.) What comedian would you have liked in the 70's? Really don't know, the Saturday Night Live gang maybe... 3.) What comedian do you hate? Can't find one, I don't like to show my dislikes anyway... 4.) Ah, but a hardcore, those proud to bear the name "Carreyholic" (such as myself) - LOVE declaring their admiration for his work, follow his work's progress like a hawk, collect various Carrey-related paraphernalia, create things based on Jim Carrey, know the oddest FAQs about him, desire to keep him safe and NOT go after his personal life. See? There's that fine line between one type of (technically) obsession (Carreyholic) and "totally out there" obsession. 8.) Are there Jim Carrey fans you admire? Why?
