Jim Carrey discussion on non-movie related topics or topics which doesn't fit anywhere else...
by Canadian Jayne » Wed Apr 12, 2006 5:17 pm
You know what happens when I do that.....
I really can't make a long story short then.....
I have a Theory, the Theory according to Jayne...
or a thoughtful analogy...whichever....
Marriage is like a Final Exam in life...
You took all the courses to get your Degree, the Degree will put
you in a high bracket, higher achievement level, higher everything.
Some study and cram for the Exam, others just wingit, some so no
preparation, others just hope to barely pass, some give up, others
figure they don't want to be bothered, seems useless anyway.
The pre-tests are all different for each student, kids, health, finances.
All students will be different, the Great Professeur just watched and
sees how each student fairs each test.
Men and Women are so different that if you are able to find some way
to get along in life, in marriage and in relationships you have sincerely passed one of the most instense, synificant and amazing Exams in life.
and that's what I think.

Good analogy, Jayne.
I obviously chose the wrong degree. Time to pick a new major.
The truth shall set you free.

Wow!!!........you certainly put a lot of thought into that.........
i see marriage as a journey through life with your best friend, sparring partner and soulmate........there needs to be highs AND lows to balance it out.....and sometimes you do get travel sick.........but at the end of it all it's been an exciting trip..........

I like both analogies...I don't have one (ohhh what a lack of imagination!!!!)... anyway... to me marriage is a companionship between two people that share love, friendship and respect.... that fight battles together and support each other through difficult times... that celebrate the victories and motive each other to advance in life... that's marriage to me!!!

awesome analogies
the way i put it is that life is a game. if you are smart and play it well then you get something of a bill gates but if you, cheat, give up or anything of the sort, you wont get as much satisfaction in the end.

The only hole in the game analogy is in a game, someones going to lose. Are you willing to risk it?
I see marriage not as a love/infatuation where you could stare into eachothers eyes for eternity (that will become stale), but one where you both look in the same dirction and work toward a common goal, constantly moving in a positive direction, and always achieving the next level.

I agree, two people need to have a really strong frienship, and be completely comfortable with each other before they even consider marriage.

To be honest, when I went to college every course I took was to prepare me to be a wife (MRS. Degree) Pschology of Courtship and Marriage, just to name one. I was so confused and delusional about what I thought love was. Its wasn't until my late 30's, I realized I didn't even know who I was, so how could I give myself completely to someone else? What I thought was attractive at 20 is completely opposite of what I find attractive now, 20 years later. Go Figure. (That's why my first marriage was a disaster, I was way too young, impulsive and naive)
