Let me confirm all...I stopped by the Elgin theatre today and talked to the guy at the door, Jim is indeed on Friday.<br><br>THe line in front of the theatre is SICK. If anyone knows the area (downtown Toronto), you'll understand. The theatre is smack in the middle of a city block. The line starts at the theatre, goes half a bloct south to Queen street, heads east a full block to Victoria, then heads north almost the entire block to Shuter. Basically, it covers 2 and a half sides of a city block. HUGE. Especially sad when you consider that half those people...at LEAST...are not getting in. The Conan people, in their infinite wisdon, have DOUBLE BOOKED THE THEATRE. The are 1500 seats, but 3000 ticket holders. I got MY ticket, and a thermos full of coffee...I'm gonna be there EARLY.<br><br>Did any of you crazy Americans watch last night's show? How'd you like Conan hangin' with the Leafs? I know Tie Domi, sorta...he went to my high school's biggest rival school, and he was at my school all the time, plus he played junior hockey in my home town and I had season tickets...and he is a fkn' SCRAPPER. I'm glad Mike Myers mentioned the Scarborough Suitcase...that town, Haliburton, that he mentioned it about a 10 min drive from where I grew up. Sweeeeeet.<br><br>RMF <p></p><i></i>

The big day has come and gone. I got to the theatre at 7:45 in the morning. This meant I was 28th in line, but by the time other people's friends showed up to join those in front of me, I was about 40th. Not bad, I say.<br><br>Not that it much mattered...when it came time to let us all in, they just opened the door and the stampede to the front of the theatre began. In the end, I was 4th row, dead centre...GREAT seats. Conan was, as always, HILARIOUS. Great monologue, great bit with the Border. Vibe in the theatre was very "up"; everyone was there to have a good time (except for a few people who were making a big deal about seats not being assigned; in true Canadian fashion, we talked amongst ourselves about what jerkoffs they were.) <br><br>And then the big moment came. Mr. Carrey himself took the stage. For those who don't know, that song that he and Conan sing ("A place to live, a place to go, Ontari-ari-ari-oooo" is the jingle from the Ontario Tourism commercial. ...yeah, I know.) He was greta, hilarious...at the end, he took his mug of water and flung it into the crowd Sitting where I was, I got the brunt of it, right in the face. Hilarious.<br><br>Then Eric Macormack came on, and then the Barenaked Ladies. The house went nuts. Then, as Conan was wrapping up the show, Jim came out and joined the band to play the bongos...not more than 20 feet away. BEELINED it to the Band pit. Jim played the bongos with a FEVER, was very hilarious. I made my way over to in fron of him and held up my copy of Ace Ventura, to which he mugged a bit and then grabbed it and signed the case. I thought about leaving, but it was a perfect chance. I stuck my hand out and told him I was "a huge fan, and thank you very much for coming to Toronto fo rthe show." He grabbed my hand and shook it, and I was just blown away. Then he took my DVD back and signed the disc. I thanked him again, threw my arms up and the few people left in the theatre cheered a little. All in all, an AWESOME evening. I have officially shaken hands with my hero. GREAT GREAT GREAT day.<br><br>The show is airing here in about 5 mins, so I'm off to the VCR. JULIETTE: Sorry, didn't get a chance to pass him your number. The funniest thing is...you know that part where Jim and COnan are trying to do a round of that Ontario song in the theatre? Well, the way the mics were set up, with the cheering and all, you couldn't hear that that's what they were trying to do!! Nobody knew! With the crowd being so loud, you could barely hear a thing on stage. BUt still, I thought it was a funny bit. Also, in that bit where Jim chases the Passport guy off stage, he apologizes to him and then gets th epassport...but then he notices the camera, so he proceeds to beat the crap out of the passport guy. BUt it ended oddly, so it didn't get any real laughs, and they cut it out. Too bad. :P<br><br>RMF <p></p><i></i>
