I just read this news alert, looks like Jim is going to be on Conan again soon!<br><br><br>"McGuinty defends Conan spending<br>Last Updated Thu, 08 Jan 2004<br><br>CBC News Online<br><br>TORONTO - Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty Thursday defended spending $1 million to bring Conan O'Brien's talk show to Toronto.<br><br>"Given the media coverage that we're going to get and the viewing audience, given the fact they're going to provide some great exposure to some Canadian talent, I think it's a great investment," McGuinty said.<br><br>O'Brien's Late Night program is scheduled to tape in Toronto Feb. 10 to 13.<br><br>The federal and Ontario governments are each paying $500,000 toward the cost of relocating the show's cast and crew.<br><br>The money is coming from Toronto03 Alliance, a special fund set up to help the city's tourism industry recover from the impact of last year's SARS outbreak, as well as the Ontario Ministry of Tourism.<br><br>Some people have spoken out against the use of public money. David Hanley, an official with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, said he wondered what the move said about Ottawa's priorities.<br><br>He also asked if the federal government would pay to bring O'Brien to western Canada to help that region of the country recover from the mad-cow crisis.<br><br>Peter Soumalias, the founder of Canada's Walk of Fame and the businessman who first approached the federal and Ontario governments about funding the project, said O'Brien's visit will bring "$100 million in positive media benefits" to the city.<br><br>It's rumoured that Jim Carrey and Mike Myers will be among O'Brien's guests."<br><br> <p></p><i></i>

Jim is going to be on the show.. i just saw a comercial for it and it said Conan is going to Toronto << sorry if i spelled it wrong>> and Adam Sandler, Micheal J. Hey all...I'm a newbie, but probably the Uber-Carrey fan. Been a fan ever since I saw Rubberface (or Introducing Janet, depending on whether you saw it on TV or Video), or possibly from Duck Factory, although I was too young to realize what I was watching.<br><br>At any rate, I just felt like bragging...I live in Toronto, and as soon as I heard about it, I put in a request for tix to go see Conan, which I was fortunate enough to get. But as luck would have it, my ticket is for Friday, February 13...the day Jim Carrey is apparently scheduled to appear on the show. Needless to say, I'm taking THAT day off work, and am filling up my thermos with some REEAALLLYYY strong coffee, and grabbing a piece of sidewalk in front of the theatre at around 7:AM that morning.<br><br>LIke I said, I have 2 tickets...anyone wanna be my friend?!?! :P<br><br>Cheers, and good luck to anyone hoping for tickets!!<br><br>Ryan<br><br><br><br> <p></p><i></i>

Well, straight from the horse's mouth..Conan said tonight on his show that Carrey will indeed be a guest in Toronto. The local news, which is, by the way, just bubbling over with joy (although it's difficult to forget SARS when they mention how celebrities are coming to help rebuild after SARS every 5 minutes) mentioned that he's scheduled to be on the Friday show (The one for which I have tickets <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> ) with Eric Macormack and the Bareneked Ladies (with whom I had the pleasure of seeing the Toronto premiere of Austin Powers 2, which I'm sure they've completely forgotten...)<br><br>Of course, all the dates are hearsay, and I'm gonna be profoundly disappointed if Carrey's not on that show. I'm no stalker...and I get the impression from reading some of these posts that I'm in the minority there...but I am a huge fan, and have a great amount of respect for him and what he's done. If there's a chance to see him live, I'll be there. Who knows...maybe I'll get to meet the man. How often does one get to meet their hero?<br><br>R <p></p><i></i>
