Jim is the Walrus

Postby FavaBeans » Tue Jan 31, 2006 12:37 am

You guys remember that CD "In my Life" produced by Beatles producer George Martin that features several celebrites singing Beatles' tunes.

Jim Carrey sang "I am the Walrus" on the CD.

Well, I just came across this article and i thought i share it with everyone.

http://horus.vcsa.uci.edu/article.php?id=4387

Here's the highlight of the article:

Carrey complements “I Am the Walrus” perfectly, lending a fine dose of humor with conviction and unexpectedly good vocal stylings. I still laugh when replaying Carrey’s report that he is “the eggman. They are the eggmen. I am the walrus, ‘goo goo g’joob.’”

As the song ends and the descending chord progression begins, Carrey yells, “There! I did it! I defiled a timeless piece of art.”

Yeah that pharase in the of the song is funny. In the middle of song it is funny too when he is speak-singing "I´m sitting in the english garden and waiting for the sun."

The song absolutely rocks!!......he's pitch perfect with awesome control......he really doesn't give himself enough of credit for his singing voice...........yeah he can ham it up like in FWDAJ but he can also really perform too............. :wink:But oddly enough i don't want to see him doing any cheesy broadway musicals.........his voice is powerful and pitch perfect but Broadway singers are formulaic......he should collab with Green day or the Foo Fighters on a track and really rock the world!!!.....Man that would give him complete and total credibility.......

it is quite possible.....he has already worked w/ one of the rap greats (busta rhymes) and the Foo Fighters had Jack Black singing Back in Black w/ them once. So i could see it happening.

Rocket man is not available on cd. Jim sang it with Elton during one of Eltons concerts.
