Here is the story
Carrey chilled with Shyamalan Jim Carreywas here over the weekend hanging out with director M. Night Shyamalan, says Carrey's publicist, Marleah Leslie. The actor's agent also says he hung with Shyamalan, but says the visit was social and not about a role for Carrey in the Gladwyne filmmaker's "Lady in the Water," about an apartment super who finds a mermaid in his building's pool. The film is scheduled to start shooting in late summer. Tuesday we reported that Carrey spent the weekend at the Rittenhouse Hotel under the name Noah Stark. Two weeks ago we reported he was here seeing U2 and the Dali exhibit. He was also here once in between and saw the Gipsy Kings at the Mann Center. Leslie says that on his most recent visit, Carrey was accompanied by daughter Jane, 17, who, sources say, just finished high school and may be looking at area colleges[/b] Last edited by cotton on Thu Jun 02, 2005 10:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Sorry that was the wrong story
Here is the right one The Jim Carrey story Comic/actor Jim Carrey has been packing a lot of Philly into recent weekends. On his most recent foray, he flew in late Friday to visit director M. Night Shyamalan's new country estate on the western Main Line, according to the actor's rep, Marleah Leslie, who wasn't sure if the call was business or social. Carrey's 17-year-old daughter, Jane, was with him in town, and they shared an after-hours tour of the Liberty Bell. Jane, graduating from high school, is considering a Philly institution of higher learning. Not that Dad isn't trying to improve his own skills. Saturday night, the bearded actor took in Arden Theatre's slick production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and signed autographs at intermission. Arden staffers surmise he's sharpening his blade to tackle a role in the forthcoming Sweeney Todd movie, to be directed by Sam Mendes (whose wife, Kate Winslet, starred with Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). www.youtube.com/user/jimcarreyonline
I have to say.....(like you'd expect me to....lol).....that he would be amazing in such a role.............he looks as though he could be a VERY good baddy.........i think he could do a psycho-killer beautifully.....as long as he didn't take his work home with him!!...........
fluffy Fluffy
he would be awesome in sweeney todd! gotta love those dark comedies...that would be classified as a dark comedy wouldn't it?
on a side note that band he saw, the gipsy kings are great!
What's the movie where the kid acts out the throat slitting scene from Sweeney Todd onstage during her elementary school program?
Oh yeah, "Jersey Girl" I think. I liked that movie. "When in doubt, tell the truth."
Mark Twain
quirky, yes it was jersey girl and that was an excellent scene. but really she probably should have done something from "cats"
if you haven't seen sweeny todd, you should check it out. there was a version done for PBS a few years ago.
yes, sweeney todd is the demon barber from fleet street but it is an interesting story, not just a chop-em-up horror. there's heart in it
........well i for one can see a glimmer of 'psycho killer' in those beautiful eyes of his..........
I actually think he has the potential to be an even better serious actor than a comedy one.........and that's saying something....lol...... He could be a modern day Richard Burton..... except i genuinely think Jim is so unique and talented he's in his own niche......... A genuine innovator............and how many of them are there?.......practically none.....most stars are studio groomed from a young age.....Jim did it on his own.....for that he has to be applauded.. fluffy Fluffy
fluffy,
i agree with you. i think Jim is a great serious actor, too. if you have followed tom hanks' career at all, you can see he started out as a physical comedy guy but after the movie philadelphia, he has done more serious roles (saving private ryan, castaway) and has really done a great job. now he can take his pick (as Jim can) of the roles he wants and not be pigeon-holed into just one genre or film. (FYI - carryd away: the movie was jersey girl)
