in case link doesnt open:

7 TUESDAY

Everyone's favorite teen crime fighter is here to save the day -- any day you want. Kim Possible: The Villain Files is a collection of high-energy missions that showcase the coolest girl wonder around, making our world better as she and her faithful sidekick, Ron Stoppable, take on the bad guys. The DVD features four action-filled episodes, including a never-before-seen mission starring the evil Dr. Drakken. Get your kids in on all the action with the DVD, which is in stores today.

8 WEDNESDAY

Here's an art exhibit that is for the birds -- literally. "Of Birds and Texas" returns to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History today and is sure to wow guests with its collection of 40 original watercolor paintings of birds that inhabit the state for all or part of the year. The exhibition of works by twin brothers Scott and Stuart Gentling marks the first time all 40 paintings have been displayed together since 1992. See MUSEUMS.

9 THURSDAY

So, your family wants to see The Nutcracker, but your kids are of the age where they might not last the whole show. Well, in this day and age of instant gratification, here's a real holiday winner. Nutcracker in a Nutshell offers the classic tale in a whirlwind 30 minutes. And it's presented by a rousing group of puppets, sure to keep the kids entertained. Gift-giving and children's dreams still remain the heart of this show at Hurst Public Library. See STORY TIME.

10 FRIDAY

Don't be foolish this holiday season and miss the Cowtown holiday favorite The Littlest Wiseman. Fueled by the musical majesty of the Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir, the show focuses on Zarah, a shepherd boy who sees the star over Bethlehem and decides to make the journey to see the baby Jesus. This is the 32nd year the show has been staged for local holiday audiences. And we're sure it won't be the last. See THEATER.

11 SATURDAY

Can't make it to Disney World for the holidays? Well, we can't promise 80-degree weather, but Mickey Mouse and the gang will be on hand today at the Dallas Holiday Wish Celebration. The Disney characters will help kick off the season with a spectacular tree-lighting ceremony. Plenty of family-friendly activities are planned at this event, presented by Zales Jewelers and Gordon's Jewelers. If you can't make it to the festivities, the holiday show will be televised on KTVT/Channel 11. See EVENTS.

12 SUNDAY

Do you have an aspiring Nigella Lawson or Jamie Oliver in your family? If so, and he or she is between the ages of 13 and 17, bring the novice chef out today to Central Market in Fort Worth. The market's cooking-school staff will host "Teens Workshop: Gifts From the Kitchen," at which teens can learn to make food gifts, including bread bowls and chili seasoning blend, triple berry jam and white hot cocoa mix with chocolate spoons. Wannabe chefs also will learn how to package and wrap gifts for tasty presentation. See EVENTS.

14 TUESDAY

If you're a "Lord of the Rings" fanatic, today is your lucky day. Die-hard fans have a hat trick of options to choose from. First, there's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition), a four-disc DVD set chronicling the final chapter in the movie trilogy. There's alsoThe Lord of the Rings -- The Return of the King (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition Collector's Gift Set), which comes with a collectible sculpture and even more special features. Finally, there's The Lord of the Rings -- The Motion Picture Trilogy (Special Extended DVD Edition), a 12-disc set of extended versions of all the films.

16 THURSDAY

So you think you know The Best Christmas Pageant Ever like the back of your hand? Think again. The Kids Who Care Musical Theatre has taken the holiday favorite and spiced it up with fresh scenery, new direction and three new songs. The revamped show opens today at Scott Theatre in Fort Worth. The show follows the unruly Herdman children who -- to the dismay of the community -- have been inadvertently cast in the annual Christmas pageant. Mayhem, of course, quickly follows. See THEATER.

17 FRIDAY

How unfortunate. It's the weekend before Christmas and the only thing your kids want to do is check out the much-anticipated new movie Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, though you know it's a story of misery, despair and discomfort. The PG-rated film is narrated by Lemony Snicket (voiced by Jude Law), a fictional author. The film also stars Meryl Streep and Jim Carrey, above left.

18 SATURDAY

There's just one week until Christmas, and boy, are you feeling it. You're all mall-ed out. Maneuvering around parking lots has become a game of dodge-'em cars. And if you have to wait in one more line, you just may scream. Avoid all that and enjoy a fun, relaxing family event at "Holidays at the Hearth" at the Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth. See how cabins would have been decorated years ago. Sip cider as you string popcorn and take a breather from the frantic pace of the holiday season. See MUSEUMS.

19 SUNDAY

A special holiday treat awaits with Alan Menken and Tim Rice's biblical oratorio, King David. This is the first production of the show since its premiere as the inaugural event of Disney's renovated New Amsterdam Theater on Broadway. Menken is the composer of Disney hits such as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, and Rice is responsible for several lyrics to stage hits, including Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar. The show takes center stage for the final time today at Irving Arts Center in Irving. See MUSEUMS.

21 TUESDAY

"Doh!" Even those few who have never seen the show know who made that one little exclamation famous. That's right -- Homer Simpson. Even the folks at Webster's Dictionary recognize the effect Homer and the rest of his family have had for more than a decade on pop culture, having recently added "Doh" to its collection of words. The Simpsons is a staple for many television viewers, and perhaps one day we'll see them on the big screen. Until then, satisfy your Simpsons cravings with The Simpsons -- The Complete Fifth Season, out on DVD today. The four-disc set includes commentary from the actors behind the voices, creator Matt Groening, deleted scenes and more.

22 WEDNESDAY

The first meeting of the soon-to-be in-laws can sometimes go, well, not quite as the soon-to-be-marrieds would like. That's the premise of Meet the Fockers, the sequel to the hilarious film Meet the Parents. The always freaked-out Ben Stiller is back with, of course, Robert De Niro as ex-CIA man Jack Byrnes. This time around, the Byrnes head to Detroit to meet Greg Focker's (Stiller) parents, who couldn't be more different from them. Jumping into those roles with gusto are Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand. Guess we'll see how funny this girl still is. The movie, rated PG-13, is meant for the older kids in your house, and it opens nationwide today.

25 SATURDAY

Forget "Ho, Ho, Ho." Today is the day to shout, "Hey, Hey, Hey," as Bill Cosby's famous character, Fat Albert, makes his big comeback -- this time on the movie screen. This live action/animated feature film is based on Cosby's stand-up acts about growing up with his friends in Philadelphia. Kenan Thompson (currently seen on Saturday Night Live) takes on the title role. He's joined by several familiar faces, including pop and R&B singer Omarion, previously of the now-defunct boy group B2K.

27 MONDAY

Talk about a creative clan. Artistry runs in the blood of the Crews family -- husband and wife Donald Crews and Ann Jonas, and their daughter, Nina -- as evidenced by the new exhibit "Art Is a Family Affair: Donald Crews, Ann Jonas and Nina Crews." The family's illustrations have impressed guests in libraries and museums across the country, and now it's Cowtown's turn as the creative trio's collection makes a stop at the Fort Worth Public Library. See STORY TIME.

28 TUESDAY

Charles Dickens' beloved tale comes to life in A Christmas Carol, presented by the Nebraska Theatre Caravan at Bass Performance Hall. Tiny Tim, Ebenezer Scrooge and Scrooge's ghostly visitors share the spotlight in this timeless fable of redemption and Christmas cheer. See THEATER.
