Just Truman

Postby samurai_cable » Wed Oct 27, 2004 3:38 pm

I just watched The Truman Show again today and I'd just like to discuss it with everyone else. Quotes, favourite bits of it and other "deeper" stuff 8)

It's been a while since I've seen it.... I've been so damned busy... ekk.. but I'm able to get more from it each time I see it. Ed Harris does a great job with Christof; the perfect manipulative bastard. Truman has been treated like an animal freak show... it's such a terrible thing to do to a person......

The scene where the nuclear plant workers(actors in suits) capture Truman really shows how cruel it all is... His struggling and everything.

I absolutely loved Jim in this one by the way :D doesn't everyone?

"You never put a camera in my brain!"

"I'm the bus-driver!"

I really liked the "How's it going to end?" badge :)

"And in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight."

i think it was the first movie I really appreciated Jim as an actor.
The next was the Majestic.
Ed Harris is great in that one, perfect role for him.
There are so many things in the Truman show
that made a person wake up and think what the media
could do!

Yeah, that's a good one, especially in the end. Or when he sings "What shall we do with the drunken sailor."

Yeah! I was surprised when I heard him sing that song because I remember learning it in music class :D

When Truman tries to put a picture of Sylvia together is really sweet, it's so cute~

Re Canadian Jayne: I agree... He is such a good actor. It really does prove he can do much more than extremely funny faces :)

That's how I felt too! Before ESOASM, The Truman Show was my favorite movie Jim made. I'm a sucker for his dramas..I just love them. Don't get me wrong..I absolutly love the comedies!! But I seem to relate more to the dramas and I love seeing that serious side of him. :)

I don't like the earnest movies like Majestic and Eternal Sunshine very much but the Truman Show had enough funny scenes so that I love this movie, too.
Can you imagine that we worked with this movie some months ago in English lessons at school? I was the best in this topic for I know there (like in many other movies of Jim Carrey) nearly everything 8) :D .

Wow, you get to study his movies at school???? They should really do this thing at my school... I had to do "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" for literature..... not that it's a bad movie....... but I'd prefer to do something like The Truman Show............ You're really lucky~!

I love this movie ( well, I love all Jims movies, but anyway). And they will show it on TV tomorrow here in Finland :)

But in the movie, most I love these scenes;
When Truman and his friend are sitting on the road and recall past memories when they were children and Jim has tears in his eyes and wipes quickly the corner of the eye.
That is SO emotional.

Other scene in the end of the movie when Trumans sailing ship bumps into that cloud wall and he bangs his fist against that wall and looks so frustrated, I look like this:
It makes me cry every time when I see it.
Riddle me this...Riddle me that! Who's afraid of the big black bat?

I love those scenes as well :D In fact, I love the whole movie~ How they plan it out and the actors in it.

I also really liked the scene when the guy was petting Truman on the giant screen... it's so cute.

They're showing it in Finland? Cool :D Maybe I should watch it again soon.

By the way, I absolutely love the end of this movie. I love the way he bows :D
