Jim stop doing R rated movies!

Postby jesussheepforever » Fri May 21, 2004 6:56 am

Jim you are better when your clean! Kids look up to you they dont want to see that filth. It's ok I still love you! but tone it down for the young ones and the adults who dont want to hear that garbage. Your movies can still be great without that F word every minute. I dont think you read these but if you do god bless you!

I agree with you in a way but in a way not because Jim Carrey likes to try new things and some of his movies are for all audiences including kids like The Grinch, Liar Liar, and The Mask and they are rated pg I think. A few months ago in Wal-Mart I saw that The Mask was made more suitable for kids to watch and it was in the kids movie section of the store. I love when Jim Carrey does R rated movies because it's almost like you get to see how Jim Carrey really is, then again you are intitled to your own opinion and you made a good point about him swearing but you know what?, he only uses the f word in some movies but not all so don't worry, it's only in Eternal Sunshine and Man on the Moon and that's pretty much it and he says the f word once or twice but that's it. Personally I he's very great in R rated movies and I'm so used to hearing swearing that it doesn't bother me one bit lol. On some stations when you watch his movies, they'll cut out the swear words all together to make the movie more clean like for Ace Ventura 1 when they showed it on the New VR here in Canada. I have a question for everyone on Jim doing rated R moives. I actually love watching Jim Carrey do rated R movies eh!

Do you all think that when Jim Carrey does rated R movies that it allows him to express himself more?

Jennifer

yeah, i think it allows him to express himself more. he's a good guy. oh and jesussheepforever, there's no bible in hollywood so i think Jim and others are going to keep doing R movies. there's no right and wrong in hollywood. they cross the line, go back, and then recross it all the time. not a good post but it's cool to see someone express themselves.

you're right, most don't like the garbage but too bad. if we dont' like it, then we dont' see it. later!

Peggy

Oh good grief! There's an old saying which works well if people don't like R rated movies... if you don't like them, don't watch them! All actors will do a variety of different films, R rated, G rated and that will remain that way forever. Jim makes films for both kids and adults and if he cut one out, he'd be cutting out half of his audience so that won't happen. I for one like films such as The Grinch, but it would never be on the top of my Jim favourite list, because kids films just aren't my cup of tea. I like my films with a bit of grit, so I really do hope Jim keeps doing R rated movies, they tend to show life as it really is and the sugar coated fairy floss version.

Btw jesussheepforever, interesting that you use the word "filth" in relation tom quite possibly the most brilliant and innovative film for this generation.

But dont you think kid's will still see them? As adults we can't just watch stuff like this and tell the kids it's okay for mommy and daddy to see it but its wrong for you. This only makes the children want to see it more.
The Truman show was great! And I did not hear any bad words in that movie. This was clearly not a childrens movie, but if a child saw it would not scar them for life. I think a movie can be fine without the F word in it, or sex scenes. I know the way hollywood is carry and I agree, but I want no part of Sodom and Gomorrah. since everybody else is doing it still doesn't make it right. Remember movies like topper? and he dood it? They were funny and they didn't have to say any dirty words. Revelation 12:9) that Satan is misleading the entire

I really do think that children can see ESOTSM and not be at all scared by it. In fact, it's rated M in Australia which means a child of any age can see it as long as they have an adult with them. There's been children as young as 5 in some of the screenings I've been to and I'm sure none of them were halmed by the movie. In fact go to any primary school in the world and you'll hear far worse language than you do in the movie.

I don't know, maybe Australia is far less hung up on things like this. Really a bit of swearing never hurt anyone I don't think. Btw, Bruce Almighty had an F word in it too!

Postby jesussheepforever » Mon May 24, 2004 7:40 pm

Well not really if it doesn't scare them but movies like these will pass bad morals onto kids. You know like smoking pot swearing sex outside of marrige. Just aint right!

Dirty movies

I love crude movies. I would encourage Jim to go further with his R rated movies. Me, Myself & Irene was great.

Really lets face it, it's up to parents to monitor what kids watch not anyone else. If kids watch it, then kids watch it. Nothing in any movie of Jim's will ever upset or destry any child. Even his R rated movies are tame compared to some. But really, it's neither here nor there. Jim will do R rated films, he'll do G rathed films. I personally would much prefer his R rated ones and quite frankly, it's not my problem what kids watch nor is it Jim's. I'll worry about myself and let parents worry about what their children watch!

Edited by: Belbee at: 5/31/04 9:41 am

You cannot plant them crooked. I dont see why anybody would prefer an R rater movie to a pg or G or PG-13. What makes a good director or Actor is the talent they have to make us laugh cry or get angry you dont have to fill it with swear words, your bodys a temple! Its because I love children I love life very much. And of course children will see these movies whats to stop them from watching them at a friends house? You cannot monitor children 24/7. But watching people leads to sin. And it does get tempting when you see movies with Sex, violence and Swear words. Plus Jim has won more awards for his PG stuff that just shows that none of that is needed in todays movie. But people who claim to be christ like should not watch it!

I don't think a movie's rating should determine what you think about a movie...

Eternal Sunshine was, in my opinion, one of the best, if not THE best film that Jim has ever done...to say Jim should not do rated r movies is obsurd. That is putting him in a box...keeping him doing the same thing for the same kind of audience for the rest of his life...no way...an artist has to have creative control...

Jim has proven with each movie that he can handle any kind of role, and I think he should be allowed any kind of role he wants...and swearing does not corrupt a child...and if it did we'd all be screwed because so much of that goes on in the public school systems that no child could escape it...

I would encourage anyone-younger or older to go and see Eternal Sunshine...if it does anything, it opens you up...

Movie ratings are just an organization telling people who they feel shouldn't be watching a movie...I will not stay away from a good movie because someone has decided for me that it's not appropriate...

Every time i've wallked out of the theatre having seen Eternal Sunshine, I'm always up the rest of the night just thinking about life...that is a good movie...a rated r movie...so what...it's a good movie because it's a good movie...
