i was at comingsoon.net when i found an article dealing with bruce almighty having a sequel. here's the article.

-----------------------------------------------
Almighty 2 Then! The Sequel is Coming Source: Variety Friday, May 14, 2004

Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Spyglass are in talks to mount a Bruce Almighty sequel based on the Bobby Florsheim/Josh Stolberg script "The Passion of the Ark," reports Variety.

Talks are just getting under way, but the plan is to court Jim Carrey to reprise and to have Tom Shadyac return as director. Carrey is said to have left the door open for another installment after the first proved to be the biggest-grossing hit of his career.

Screenwriter Steve Oedekerk will be enlisted to refit "Ark" into a sequel. The "Ark" script could work with another actor, who'd play a widowed writer who's chosen by God to prepare for the second great flood.

Universal is expected to run the production and will likely distribute domestically.
----------------------------------

what do you think? i know Jim isnt one for sequels but then again, he hasnt had this much success on his other films.

white werewolf

sequels in general just bug me. Not only with Jim films (and luckely he's rarely done one, actually..urr..just one) but it's always, really always a repeat from the old stuff and it get's tiring. Sometimes they are okay, but they rarely live up to the origional, and makes the origional loose it's freshness. It's like staying too long at a party, you should always leave at the highest point.
cableclair

www.soiledmypants.com<-- my site
Failure isn't failure unless you give up...

Bruce Almighty wasn't a very strong story to begin with, and it wasn't Jim's best comedy either if that's what he was aiming at. If they wanted to make a sequel, the script should be much better then the first movie is because the first movie wasn't really that great anyway. I loved working on it, but it wasn't really the best movie I've seen from Shadyac and that's sad to say. I don't know what's wrong with it, but it just wasn't worth the money it made.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
J.T. Is it the luck of the draw?

Postby Canadian Jayne » Thu May 20, 2004 12:49 pm

I agree with you WWerewolf, I liked Back to the Future more than 1. Is it the luck of the draw or is it you have to make the second one BETTER than the first. Is it that there must be guarantee that the second one is better, in just what you say, humor, graphics, writing and characters.
There is now so much variety now, how does one know something is going to be successful and fresh, a must see? Most people have seen pretty well everything on TV what more haven't they seen?.
One thing is for sure, we always need humor to reset ourselves.

Sequels

Postby jesussheepforver » Mon May 24, 2004 7:48 pm

Jim can make a good sequel. Look at Ventura when Nature Calls that was great. I can't believe any Jim Carrey fan would denie that. I wont see Bruce Almighy 2 not because it is a sequel, but because of blasphemy. I would love to see a sequel to liar liar or the grinch though. We can make fun of lots of things in comedy, at my church we rent out a room and entertain or congergation with Music and even jokes. These jokes are very funny. you can be funny without selling your soul to SATAN! He's everywhere! He is the same evil spirt that tried to make our lord Jesus Christ sin, since Christ was the son of God he was not going to give into him, but we are humans and he knows we are weaker! Be strong brothers and sisters because Satan can take many form!

You need to grow a pair. I bet you would bitch if you got hung with a new rope! Dont you think Christ has bigger fish to fry than to worry about a made up movie. Its all fake anyway. Besides Bruce Almighty wasn't Jim's best movie but the message in the movie wasn't about making fun of God or Jesus or whoever in the world you worship.

Jim hated Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, and come on, you gotta admit it was poor compared to the first one! I loved it as a child, but you start to notice things when you get older, and to be honest, Jim looked bored!

I liked Bruce Almighty, but as others have said, it wasn't his best movie, he was just lucky at the box office- I did go see it 3 times in 2 weeks, lol!

I prefer to see fresh movies, and a sequel to that film would be repetative and boring, we've seen it now, and we want something new!!!

I can't wait to see his new stuff!

So true! Of course any sequel probably would be "kinda nice", but not really exciting. Neither for us, nor for Jim. New stuff is exciting! Especially the one that's coming up right now! I can't wait! I'm really glad Jim is using his big range lately. First Eternal Sunshine, now Lemony Snicket.... It's so interesting to see him in new and exceptional roles. It's goooood!

I really hope he won't do this. I totally do not believe in sequels either... I really hope he'll just be happy with the first one... I know I was...
