WHAT THE HECK???

I had to drive 2 hours to go see ESOTSM because my local theater wasn't showing it! My local theater gets the major releases. But this one it didn't. Why? They said it was because it was a "Limited Release."<br><br>LIARS!<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START >: --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br><br>The real reason is because they were showing "The Passion" on TWO screens. They dropped two other movies to make way for the other two March 19 releases. Movies that I know are not going to do as well. The falderal is over! Every church in my area (even the Baptist one who thinks it's a sin to see a rated "R" movie - hypocrites!) has seen the thing. It doesn't need to be on two screens anymore! It's makin' a lot of money. That doesn't mean you don't show another release! This theater has done this before. An Oscar nominated drama was going to be shown at the theater, but was pulled at the last minute because they were showing "Lord of the Rings" (I think) on TWO screens. They didn't show a Nickelodeon animated feature because they were showing a Star Wars movie on TWO screens.<br><br>What really chaffes my hide, though, is that they had the early poster for ESOTSM at the theater! What the [edited for content] is goin' on?<br><br>The only other places in Iowa I could go where ESOTSM was being shown was Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities. I know what you mean BC. You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a multiplex, but I still had to drive 30 minutes to find a theater showing ESOTSM. They had it playing in their largest theater, and it was very crowded. Hopefully that will be a sign to expand it to more places next week (I heard that was the plan). <p></p><i></i>

I saw a trailer on TV and the ending tag said it was a "limited release" to open on the 19th and would go "wide release" April 9th. Sounds like alot of BS to me. I know Focus features is a small company so their budget is smaller than the big guys so they have less prints available. I also had to drive 45 minutes to see it, but holy moley was it worth it! <p></p><i></i>

It has technically opened in a limited release unfortunately. I'm pretty sure now that I'll have the same problem when it opens here as well. I understand everyone's frustration. <br><br>However, when The Passion first opened, it was only on a limited number of screens as well. So like ESOTSM, it only had a limited release. Then once it became so popular, they extended the number of theaters that the movie was showing at as well as the number of screens in each theater.<br><br>So let's hope that they will do that for ESOTSM as well. That is all we can do right now. I remember before I lived in LA, back in St. Louis, I sometimes had to drive a ways to find a theater with a certain Jim movie. I had to drive an hour to see it. A lot of theaters don't seem to have it for some reason. An online friend of mine is having the same problem.
