Jim Carrey discussion on non-movie related topics or topics which doesn't fit anywhere else...
by fluffy » Thu Jul 26, 2007 5:58 pm
When Jim started out it seemed he was in a full creative flow. In Living Colour and the stand up allowed him real creative freedom.....but when he moved up to A-LIST movies obviously other people had a say and he would have been more limited.....i guess that's why he escapes into art, he needs an outlet..
But Jims quieter periods can only be appeased a so much by art, reading, hobbies etc.....
The thing is i wonder if he misses the real creative buzz from making up short sketches or the adoration of a live audience??
Perhaps the circle is complete now, and far from seeing it as a backwards step, revisiting live comedy or even TV can be seen as 'coming home' ?
I still think he would be an amazing talk show host ........ .............just one series......interviewing fellow 'big guns'......just to prove he's 'the master' of all trades.......
what do you lot think?

I think he's going to go out on the road sooner than you think and do a comedy routine across North America. He needs to get back into doing the stuff that he loves and is a master at doing.
It's obvious he loves to connect to an audience, and the only way he can do that is by making them laugh. If he has to be the interviewer, and not the interviewee, he would just die. I doubt he would let anyone talk for very long before he would jump in and do something funny.
All you have to do is watch the bloopers of his movies, and notice how he intentionally does scenes over and over again, in a funny way so that people can laugh.
It's like the set is his stage, and the crew is his audience.
The truth shall set you free.

that's so true Fil.........he would be itching to engage his guests in japes it's just that when energy isn't fully channelled it becomes destructive, and he's got more energy than most......

Manx Arms for the Iron Horse Festival in August.
But I think he's probably quite happy doing what he's doing right now.
How about a Scubaventure Jim?

I think that Jim is sticking to what he's good at now. Exploring new roles and being diverse. I like the fact that he doesn't give the audience what they are always looking for and always wanting.
I personally think that it would be amazing if he went on tour, did a Broadway show or something like that. I also think that it would be amazing if he would have a TV series or something later down the road. However, I am pretty sure that when Jim has stretched his acting career as far as he can or desires to, that will be the end. I have a feeling that as he's gotten older, he is going to think about retirement more and more and settling down for what is possibly the first time in his life.
