orrrrrr try to get your ass into a production company, cause what it all boils down to is that there, education doesn't really matter, as long as you're smart and know you really fit that profile and show you can think along. And know how to handle a computer (and you do you nerd! ) and the phone. So find a way in, maybe even just an internship to start off with, impress them so they like you so much they actually want to keep you there, start paying you more. If all is well they have a good heart and understanding for the entertainment business, so they'd understand it better and are even ready to give you some freedom when it comes down to persuing your acting carreer.
Plus you get to know a lot of people in the biz, from producers to directors to camera crew and cast. Always handy .

Try Pitbull . muahahahaha.
cableclair

www.soiledmypants.com<-- my site
Failure isn't failure unless you give up...
Edited by: cableclair at: 5/5/04 6:47 am

yea, I tried to get a job at Universal Studios and they said I'd have to apply online, when I checked online, they were all jobs for president of so and so and manager for this and that, and I can't do those jobs because I don't fill the requirements, internship is also out of the question because I'm not currently enrolled in college. Another barrier in my way is I need almost $3000 by June 23rd cuz Melissa is coming back out here and eep! our hotel bill is about $1800 at Disneyland, I know it's highly expensive but I wanted us to have more fun this summer. I could try Pitbull but what would that lead to, Jim asking me if I'm stalking him, I don't want to deal with that. I wish I could work for Tom Shadyac but he's busy building houses until July I think so it's not like he's working on a movie now, maybe I'll ask if he needs a secretary or something. I dunno, I'd hate to do computer work but I'd love to work in a field I'm interested in. I've applied to so many jobs and they all reject me cuz I don't have experience, I don't have a college education and I'm probably too old to be working at "the Gap" and "the Guitar Center" but I dunno, I just wish jobs were easier to find in Los Angeles.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
J.T. Job hunt!

Postby Canadian Jayne » Thu May 06, 2004 5:53 pm

Recently the tables have turned for me, I thought it would be forever before I became settled, but so far, knock on wood, things are great but I had to move from where I was to get a job.
Ways I have found a job are I volunteered eg. YMCA
and I later ended up working there at one time.
I went to college in the States and ended up working on Campus, I believe you can apply for scholarships, my daughter had all her tuition paid by a scholarship in Canada, so there are ways and means the key is "apply for everything" and something may come your way.
Unemployment services somethings can help with retraining. Also you can take a test online to show where your talents are and what you are good at.
"sometimes you have to clean toilets to get where you want to go" but knowing that's what you don't want to do for the rest of your life always helps with one's quest for what they do want to do"
ALL YOU CAN DO IS THE BEST THAT YOU CAN
and ask those around you, easily accessible for help and
knowledge on how to cope, those who have been there.

screwed up bigtime over here!

Postby carreypunkrawker » Thu May 06, 2004 6:43 pm

I went to school yesterday and I totally freaked out and didn't go to my College Algebra exam. I didn't contact the teacher or anything. but the thing is, is that I already was failing the class, and plus, I had been told that no one passes that exam anyways, unless they're Einstein or something you know? unless they're a mathematical genius. I feel regretful because I didn't even take a shot. plus, the teacher said that that exam was going to replace a grade and he'd drop the lowest grade. I know I did something stupid, but I think I did a good thing for myself.

Now all I have to do is see if I passed Biology and then my decision on dropping out of school completely will be in touch.

The problem is, is because I'm not as outgoing as a lot of people, is that I can't find a job anywhere. I'm shy, quiet, I can't smile when trying to find a job and all that. I ask for an application and then I stare at the floor. I don't even know when I do it. My head is telling me to smile smile smile and I can't do it. I try and look upbeat and positive but who am I kidding? I'm a manic depressive person! I'm so down. So I know what it feels like for all you who can't find jobs. It's tough.

Furthermore, my family makes fun of me. They call me a screw up and all that. I KNOW i'm a screw up. I'm trying to improve. But because of low self esteem issues, I can't do anything. I may have to lie just to go places next fall. I'm scared that if I can't get a job and stay away from the campus, I'll lose friends as well. They're the only ones who keep me going now. WIthout them, I'd be dead, literally. I would have killed myself a long time ago if it weren't for friends (not the television show).

so i can relate to you and to Jim's father. Job hunting is tough, especially for "failures" like me.

Later!
