Jim Carrey & Tom Shadyac

I'm just wondering what the (professional) relationship between Jim Carrey and Tom Shadyac is about. They've worked together on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Liar Liar, and Bruce Almighty. I'm curious if there's anything more to it. Were they friends before working together? How did they meet/discover each other? It is just a coincidence that they've done three films together? I enjoy all the work they do together, it's some of my favourites from Jim's work. Tom rocks! I worked on Bruce Almighty with them, they're like brothers. They throw jokes at each other all day. Oh, that's so awesome! Do you much about how they got started working together? I think I remember hearing something about Tom seeing Jim somewhere and wanting him to be in AV... but I can't remember. Do you know anything along those lines? <p></p><i></i>
