Annie Leibovitz in The Guardian

Postby Niobe » Sun Oct 15, 2006 1:58 pm

OK, so I was flicking through the magazine supplement that came with yesterday's Guardian. There was a feature on Annie Leibovitz's work, mainly lots of photos she's taken of celebrities in her unique style. There was one of Jim in there. I flicked past it at first as I didn't realise it was him. It was taken in 1999 at the Smashbox Studios in Culver City. He's sitting topless on a chair in an empty room with open boots and a yawn/scream/grimace on his face. I'd never seen this pic before...has anyone else?? I'm sure you have as I'm not that up-to-date with all the pics of Jim out there.
I'd scan it, but I don't have a scanner!

I thought when you mentioned "The Guardian"

Postby Canadian Jayne » Mon Oct 16, 2006 5:54 pm

You were talking about the movie with of "The Guardian"
about the coastguards. My hubby and I went to see it last night,
it was excellent, a movie worth seeing. Some things he didn't agree
with re the fish boat since he has worked on them but all in all it was
an excellent movie.

Jim was in a funny mood - and not the good kind - during that photo shoot. This is unfortunate but again, we wouldn't have gotten that wonderful picture otherwise.
This was inspired by his favorite painter, Francis Bacon in case you didn't know.

Nice! I saw some Francis Bacon work in my art books back in school and there was only one thing on my mind!
Now if only he could do something in the Salvador Dali (my favorite) vein, too bad it's mostly scenery oriented!
