I didn't realise Simon Birch was on...but I did catch most of it. Lovely little film. Bit of a tear-jerker in parts.

yep...it's a tear-jerker alright. I've cried almost everytime
I watch it. Jim has such a sweet voice; I'm so glad that he
narrates it, but I wish he would have had a bigger role in
the movie.

I have never seen Simon Birch. Should I get it and watch it? I thought he was just the narrator in it, doe he appear in it as well as like the adult Simon?

Jim is the adult 'Simon's best friend' who looks back on his life. Not a big role. Most of the film is about them as kids.
Depends what you want really. If you just want to see some Jim.....not a great movie. If you want to watch a lovely little story (with not much Jim)....go see!

I think I will try and see it anyway, it seems like a nice story, and a type of film that I would enjoy. Thank you for your help Niobe! Now all I have to do is find it.

Jim appears briefly in the beginning and the end of the movie,
but he narrates the story throughout the film. I wish Jim would
have had a bigger role, but I don't think you can go
wrong by watching this movie at least once; it's really sweet.

It's a shame you missed it on TV recently in the UK Emily! I'm sure it will be on again at some point. We'll keep our eyes peeled...

The ending is really sad, but I don't want to spoil the movie for you.

I really want to see it now, I'll have to see if I can order it off the internet. It has been ages since I saw a sad movie. You can sometimes enjoy a good sad movie. Not all the time, but sometimes you need one.
