Let's ask the man himself.
"Oh gosh, I wouldn't even know," Carrey said recently from a Los Angeles hotel. "To me, it's the characters, not me. I wouldn't know how to drill down or label myself in any way."
"Nobody wants to hear a celebrity complain about their privacy," he said. "It's whatever it is. There are times when that's hard and it's a pain in the butt, and there are times when it's just, you know, who cares? I get to do some amazing stuff. I get to do really fun stuff. So life is good."
"There's no hope for me if I'm bored," he said. "If I don't like what I'm doing, I can't translate it at all. I'm not that good."
"You can't think about criticism before you do things," he said. "You can't think people are not going to like this or whatever. I mean, I want people to like it, obviously. I don't live on an island in my mind. . . . I wouldn't be in the business if I didn't think somebody out there liked me to begin with.
"There's a reason why I'm doing this part," he said. "I know there will be a few people out there who will be into how I'm doing it. You have to have faith in the universe. It'll guide you to the right place."
