Shepard Fairey knows how to attract an eclectic crowd. This weekend at Perry Rubenstein Gallery in West Hollywood, Fairey debuted his latest collection of works inspired by the songs of Neil Young’s most recent album, “Americana” – a reimagining of great American folk songs. While many in the crowd got a taste of works previously (there was a one-day show in June with Neil Young holding court), this was the general public’s first chance to see Fairey’s homage to all things American – the good, the bad, and the political (which is probably a bit of the first two these days as well).
So who showed up to check out Fairey’s latest homage to our sociopolitical climate? Jim Carrey, Simon Baker, Marisa Tomei, Jared Leto, Demetri Martin, Shiloh Fernandez, Albert Brooks, Matt Lucas, Stephen Merchant, and Henry Rollins.
