March 2nd, 2011 4:44 pm PT Jim Carrey is not dead, Gossip Cop confirmed. Carrey, who's the latest victim of a hoax that he was killed in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland, is fine. Marleah Leslie, Jim Carrey's publicist, said the rumor is "absolutely not true."

The Global Associated News published this earlier today:

“Carrey lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed… [He] was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash.”

For some reason the questionable news source thought it was worth pulling a prank like this. The false report that Jim Carrey was died turned out to be another hoax, Gossip Cop adds.

Other celebrities have encountered death hoaxes in the past, including Adam Sandler, Avril Lavigne, and Owen Wilson. There's nothing like reporting a big star is dead when, in fact, he or she is alive.
