Midway through "Son of the Mask'' -- a comedy so unfunny, it's tragic. A thought occurred: Is Jim Carrey paying Hollywood studios to make sequels to his movies without him so he'll finally be recognized as the comic genius he knows himself to be?

Obviously he's making a joke about him being shunned by the academy and others for his acting ability.

yeah i doubt Jim Carrey would pay for sequels to his movies to get recognized... if i was Jim i would be embarrased to admit that they were makeing a crappy sequel to a great movie that he made... 11 years a go i might add....
