What would you do if Jim Carrey helped you face your fear?

Postby JimCarreyschick » Wed Jul 09, 2003 12:30 pm

I would love it if Jim Carrey were to help me face my fear which spiders BIG Tranchula spiders (Arachnophobia), I think that he'd tell me to stay calm and that spiders don't bite. I'd be so calm if he'd be there.

I don't think anyone could help me get over my fear of sandwiches and milk. There's something about them that makes me go all URGH!!!! I'm not joking, I am afraid of those things. Oh I'm also afraid of people being too close to my ears.

Now, if Jim could help me get over that, I'd be one hell of a happy bunny!
I can't do it. I have such a fear of spiders. Even before I was born I had arachniphobia. I was born two weeks early because a grass spider crawled on my Mom when she was in bed trying to go to sleep. She was so scared she went into labor a little later and I was born that morning.

I'm not afraid of spiders either lol. I don't kill them cause in my head I always already imagine the sound effect that will make and my stomach turns, so I catch them in a glass (or a bathtub for the really big ones)

But yea. Jim surely inspires me to face fears.

Last night I went to the comedy Club totally unprepared with nothing but a terrible sunburn. It was a really weird evening, the audience seemed to excist of utterly dead people and all the comedians got in this weird mood. Didn't plan on going on stage last night but the audience was SO corpsy, that I had this...utter big urge to poke them all to check if they were still breathing. Like there was no response whatsoever, none of the audience members dared to reply on ANYTHING, not even the questions comedians asked. There were 15 comedians and they all died. Everyone, even the pro's.
In the middle of the show the MC always suggest if anyone wants to come on stage from the audience, try to feel what it's like.
No response.
So I thought, what the heck. I got this magical urge. Raised my hand with absolutely no clue of what to do. MC already knowing me (I'm there about every week)grinning introducing me.
And then I announced: "People, one piece of usefull information you might want to have.....this.... is not a library". LOL. Took a while for them to get it, but they got it after I said "everyone...raise your index finger towards the body of the person next to you..and..poke. poke. poke."
And magical happening: THEY DID!!!!
"to check if you're all still alive"
That got a chuckle.
And then I just started to babble on top of my head unprepared, thought up some bizar surreal stuff about me having a sunburn on purpose because I have this new job being the lobster in the Aquarium at a restaurant. Weiiird stuff. Totally experimental.
And then I got a little insecure and went on stock mode for the last tiny bit. I had pure fun though (and afterwards feel I shouldn't even have done those few old jokes(that didn't really work anyway, though it gave me an excuse to, while everything was dying suggest they poke eachother again)

I feel really accomplished. Sometimes the Worst Nights of standup comedy are the Best.

I'm so happy about it because I've overwon my nerves. At least for last night, lol. I dared to take a leap. I was fearless and I guess that's the key to standup comedy. Now I need some good jokes. Plus I can never recreate that since the sunburn hopefully is a one time thing.

Afterwards the MC was pretty enthousiastic about my guts and he asked me if I was drunk because I looked drunk on stage with that red head going on. (and because I usually am a nervous wreck on stage and last night I was being couragious) "No, I REALLY have a sunburn. A really bad one."

I have. I still look like a lobster. lol. It's embarrassing. Plus it hurts. I feel like a grilled cheese sandwich.

It was really special.
I never dared to come up stage totally unprepared before.
I'm dead tired but I feel great.
cableclair

www.soiledmypants.com<-- my site
Failure isn't failure unless you give up...
