it's interesting how politicians are reespected in the us...........they are figures of ridicule here........

I'm not sure politicians have that much respect in most countries. It's a tough job trying to please everyone I guess, but they really don't help themselves sometimes.

I wrote to my MP once (my MP is Tony Blair! ) and I just got a bog standard reply from one of his minions. But I suppose he's a busy guy.....

Yes, I think it just depends on who they are and who the citizen is. Many politicians are actually hated by some people. Hate is such a strong word!! But it seems appropriate here...

Well....when you have the chair of the Democratic National Commitee willing to step up to the mike and say, "I hate Republicans...it's hardly setting the stage for civility and meaningful debate.
